The Critical Electoral College

(Electoral College) A way of opposing “cabal, intrigue, and corruption”

Alexander Hamilton

I delivered a seminar on The Electoral College at The Renaissance Academy in January of 2017. This was in response to the “noise” the Left was making following Trump’s landslide electoral victory of 2016.  There were 35 in attendance.  32 gave me glowing reviews on my presentation, while 3 described me as a radical Conservative.  I have not been asked to speak there since. Those three Leftists were enough to have me labeled a reactionary… and all that I did was present the constitutional perspective and the comments of our founders. Nothing irritates the Progressive Left more than objective truth.

This followed my having made two presentations a year for five years at Renaissance.   I point this out to highlight the importance the Left links to this issue and that our local institutions, in all too many cases,  are Leftist bastions, similar to those of New York and California, where free speech is verboten if it does not give credibility to Leftist positions…regardless of how ludicrous.

Recently, Elizabeth Warren attacked the constitutionally mandated Electoral College and, thus, further damaged the reputation of woman, academics, geriatrics, white people, funny looking folks, and anyone not having any Native America ancestry. She is but one of the Democrat potential nominees who oppose the electoral college.  I guarantee that none of them has the slightest understanding of the college or the enormous benefits that are derived. I focus on Warren as she is the most prototypical of all the Leftist candidates.

Warren, in her inimitable fashion screeched that after her first term in the presidency, which she’ll win within the process of the electoral college, she would be reelected for her second term based on having won the popular vote. I count four major errors in that sentence; none of which are spelling or grammar. In addition, there was the unspoken error of her not being able to eliminate the electoral college by executive fiat. That lack of constitutional awareness may have to be overlooked because she probably didn’t know that …among many other things. Ignorance never gets in the way of a Leftist trying to make a point.

Her remarks, however, were well received by the other 43.7 million comparable looney Leftist’s; all of whom seem to agree with any position based on the depth of its absurdity.  Hence, Warren is one of their heroes…excuse my faux pas…heroines. Their operational motto is apparently, “If it’s foolish enough…I’m in.” Leftist leaders have never failed to supply them with an unending list of proposals meeting only two thresholds…they must not make any sense to a normal person and must be destructive to historical America.  You can always judge the harmfulness of any idea by how widely it is accepted and lauded by the American Left.

Well, that’s enough fun with Elizabeth Warren and her belligerent bedlam buddies. She’ll soon prove to be nothing more than a harmless foot note in America’s battle for survival.

It must be still be asked, however, why the Left reacts in such an exaggerated and dramatic manner to the topic of the electoral college?  Currently, they will pursue any course of action to ensure their notion of contrived democracy is fulfilled.  Mass illegal immigration being their centerpiece, linked with creating dependent populations who can’t find their shoes without their Democrat, big city, overlords.  If those mindless populations can be harnessed, by using the popular vote, no Republican will ever again win the presidency…and no originalist will ever again be nominated to The Supreme Court.

Their entire strategy is, by any means possible, legal or illegal, to control America by the creation of these voting majorities.  Once again, the lynch pin in this entire process is the elimination of the electoral college. If they succeed in this process that will be the final nail in America’s coffin.

The Electoral College serves all of us by ensuring that presidential candidates must always consider the needs of a wide variety of Americans. The candidates can’t cater to one region, state, or special interest group. Small and less densely populated states have a particular interest in preserving the Electoral College, which prevents them from being tyrannized by the majority in large cities and states.

Perhaps one of the greatest differences that can be established between the political factions of America is…Republicans (at their best) attempt to serve existing populations …while Democrats artificially generate their voters, using any means at their disposal. We could project an America of the future, if the president is elected by popular vote, when Los Angeles County awards the presidency to a candidate who lost the rest of the nation by 4 million votes but carried LA by 4 million and one.

Certainly, our founders were equally concerned with both the tyranny of a monarch and the tyranny of a mob.  They recognized that transient public opinion, often emotional and poorly informed, could not be used as a yardstick to guide the essential actions taken in our society. No collective group of citizens of any nation have ever been able to sustain the rigor necessary to maintain the direction of their country.

At present, we find all our founding principles under assault.  Many prominent Leftist leaders seek to destroy our free markets, infringe upon our personal liberties, and abrogate our social values. Unfortunately, they have accrued a high level of success.  Moreover, they have prosecuted this revolution without firing a shot.  Instead, they have used the soft edge of the sword of elected despotism…they have weaponized democracy. The electoral college must be protected to protect our Constitution, our nation, and our freedom.

Alexander Hamilton said of the then newly designed Electoral College, “The mode of appointment of the Chief Magistrate (the president) of the United States is almost the only part of the system (The Constitution) . . . which has escaped without severe censure . . . I venture somewhat further, and hesitate not to affirm, that if the manner of it be not perfect, it is at least excellent.”
