|Yup,, it’s me again — I have late-breaking news to share!
Happy Tuesday, everyone — This snippet will be quick so let’s get right to it.
1. Two of our favorite restaurants, Sea Salt and Barbatella, are about to welcome a sibling restaurant here in Naples!! Great friends, Fabrizio and Ingrid Aielli, will be opening the new “baby” in January 2018. It’s name will be DORONA, A Modern Italian Steak House and it will open in the former Midtown Kitchen & Bar located at the corner of Golden Gate Parkway and US 41. The menu will feature the finest cuts of beef available from select farms across the USA. Menu items will also include reinvented sandwiches & burgers, pasta dishes, fresh garden salads, seafood, chicken, pork, lamb & duck offerings. Delicious appetizers will also be featured that could be combined for a small meal. How lucky we are that Fabrizio and Ingrid have chosen Naples to have a family of THREE restaurants in our midst. I cannot wait to try this new baby!!
2. Much to my surprise, the Naples Grande Hotel will be reopening this coming Friday, December 15!! And the gaping hole in the hotel’s roof has vanished! Good for them. According to reports, the folks at Naples Grande have had to spend millions of dollars in order to repair the damage from Hurricane Irma. The work is now done and reportedly, the hotel looks better than ever.
3. Finally….and neighbors at Trieste and Bay Colony, heads up. Our former neighbors, Pauline & Steve Mansour (used to own Trieste 1503 & then a single family home in the Shores) have a daughter who will be in the Olympics! Pauline & Steve are from Canada and spent a lot of their time here in Naples while their daughter, Cortney, was taking ice skating lessons. Well, Cortney is now 23 years old and will be skating in the upcoming Winter Olympics in ice dancing for the Czech Republic. For any of you who remember the Mansours, I have located a link which shows a great photo of Cortney and her partner. She has turned out to be a BEAUTIFUL young lady. Let me know if you want me to send you the link.
That’s all for now — more news as it happens.
